FAQS
Finding your dream wedding dress is very exciting but as with any new experience, it can also be a bit confusing!
How long will my appointment last?
We offer appointments for brides which are 90 minutes and for the Mother of the Bride/Groom it’s an hour.
Is there a charge for my appointment?
No, we don’t charge for appointments. We will send you a confirmation with your date and time, plus a reminder during the week of your appointment. All we ask is that if you have to cancel your appointment please give us as much notice as possible. You are booking out our entire studio for your sole use, so if you cancel last minute or just don’t attend, we really feel this as a small business.
When’s the best time to shop for my dress?
There’s no right and wrong answer to this question, but here’s what we’ve learned over the years. It’s a must to have your wedding date and preferably your venue booked before you start shopping for dresses. Why? Well, imagine the type of dress you might choose if you were to get married on the beach in Jamaica versus what you might choose for a church wedding or even a rustic barn-type venue. The venue really can change what dress you go for. Also, the time of year is key, will you need to go outside at a winter wedding or will you need to get in and out of a wedding car? These are all things to consider when choosing your dress.
From a timescale perspective, the ideal time to give you the most choice possible is 9-18 months before your wedding. This allows us to work with designers on customisations if needed, which means nothing within the studio is out of reach. How disappointing would it be to leave it a little late and find out that the dress of your dreams is no longer an option?
But what if you don’t have that sort of time frame or you’ve just been putting off dress shopping (don’t worry this is something we hear all the time) Luckily, we work with great designers who are keen to work with us and have some of the shortest lead times in the industry, so it still might be possible to order your dream dress at short notice. There is sometimes a small charge attached to this, but we will take every situation as it comes and find the best option for you.
Another option is to buy “Off the Peg”. This is purchasing one of the dresses that we have already in store, so you can literally take your dress home with you on the day of your appointment. We usually have around 50 of these available in-store, so don’t worry, we’ve got you covered if you’ve left it a little late.

Should I bring anything to my appointment?
Just yourself and up to 3 guests with open minds is all we ask.
Please don’t worry about the type, colour or choice of underwear you have on, whatever makes you feel comfortable is absolutely fine. A good supportive bra without padding is a good idea, not particularly for when you are trying on dresses, but if you do say YES and we need to take your measurements, we find we get a truer measurement that way.

I have no idea what I want or where to start?
Don’t worry, that’s what we are here for. We have years of experience and totally understand that you are likely to be out of your comfort zone. So, the best thing you can do is get yourself a glass of wine or a cuppa and take some time to look through our website. The link will be sent to you when you book your appointment.
Have a look through the dresses page, these are split into price brackets, to give you an idea of where we sit price-wise. Please be aware though that these are just a selection, and we have around 130 dresses in store.
Also, take a look at our sale page, these are specific “one-off” dresses that can be taken away on the day, this page details what size/colour etc we have in store and the relevant prices.
Finally, have a browse through our real brides’ page, here you will see our own gorgeous brides, looking stunning but most of all happy, smiling and confident on their special day. It might be worth remembering that virtually all these women, just like you, had doubts and concerns before booking their appointment, so like I said before, don’t worry we’ve got you.

How many people can I bring with me?
A maximum of the bride plus 3 guests at your appointment, please. We have set this number after a great deal of thought and being part of thousands of appointments over the years. We have set it purely with the bride at the centre of our focus and believe that 1, 2 or 3 guests is just perfect.
Think carefully about who you bring with you, it’s such an honour to help someone choose the most important dress of their life, so please think about the people in your life who put you first, always have your back and truly want the best for you. That may seem strange to say, but saying YES to the dress should be such a wonderful experience and only shared with those most dear to you.

Do you offer payment plans?
The short answer to this is YES, we do! Every situation is different, so we are happy to discuss this and make things work for you. We understand that weddings are expensive, so we aim to make this as easy as possible for you. Please discuss your requirements with us and we will do everything we can to offer a solution for you that will work, without breaking the bank.
Will my dress need to be altered?
99% of brides will need some form of alteration on their dress, your wedding dress should be the best fitting dress of your life, so having someone share your vision, and that you feel comfortable with as a seamstress is so important.
We are so lucky, we attract brides from all over the UK, so we work with many independent seamstresses who we have worked with for a long time, and we know will do an amazing job. Choosing the right seamstress is as important as choosing the store you buy your dress from. In our local area, we work with seamstresses in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Worksop, Doncaster and further afield we work with seamstresses in West Yorkshire, Manchester and the North East. We are part of a network of bridal shops so if you are visiting from out of town, we can usually hook you up with a recommended seamstress nearer to you, if you prefer not to travel back to Sheffield for those appointments.
We usually suggest that you budget £200-£250 for standard alterations, but obviously the more that needs to be done to the dress, the higher this will be, so please bear this in mind if you decide to make a major change to your dress. You should expect the seamstress to give you an estimate of the overall cost before the work begins.

Are there any extra costs I should know about when buying a dress from you?
On the day you say YES to the dress with us you will receive a full account showing what you have ordered at that stage, together with individual prices. In addition to the dress, some brides choose to buy accessories, so things like headpieces, veils, jewellery, shoes etc. These can all be chosen at your initial appointment or looked at during your styling appointment once your dress arrives. This is personal to everyone, so no pressure on this, whenever you’re ready.
When your dress arrives, it will be expertly prepared for you to collect and take away with you ahead of your seamstress appointments.
You will visit us again at this stage and you will try on the dress for initial fit, together with any accessories you have purchased at this stage. If you haven’t chosen your accessories this appointment is a great time to choose these, so some brides use this appointment and maybe tie it in with a hair trial on the same day to get the overall look.
Your dress is then supplied to you in a fully breathable dress bag to keep her safe and clean. This preparation, styling appointment, dress bag and branded hanger are all FREE OF CHARGE.
In addition to the above, we also offer some specialist services which are chargeable:
